LSU and Florida in all SEC College World Series
For just the third time in history, two SEC teams will face off for the NCAA baseball national championship in the College World Series. ESPN will provide the TV coverage beginning Monday evening.
Florida shut out TCU 3-0 on Saturday night, advancing to play LSU beginning Monday. The Tigers secured their spot in the title series by upending top-seeded Oregon State 6-1 Saturday afternoon.
Florida (50-19) and LSU (52-18) tied for the SEC’s regular-season championship with 21-9 conference records. Florida and LSU have each been involved in one of the previous SEC vs. SEC baseball championship meetings. The Tigers beat Alabama in the 1997 College World Series championship game, while the Gators lost to South Carolina in 2011.
LSU has won six national championships, taking home the trophy in 1991, 1993, 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2011. Florida is seeking its first national title in baseball.
